Lab Overview

Persistent disks are durable network storage devices that GCP instances can access just like physical disks in a physical server. The data that resides on a persistent disk is distributed across several underlying physical disks. Compute Engine manages the physical disks and the data distribution for you.

Persistent disks are located independently from VM instances, so you can attach, detach, and move disks as needed. Persistent disk performance scales automatically with size, so you can resize your existing persistent disks, or add more persistent disks to an instance to meet performance and storage space requirements. In this lab simulation, you’ll add a new persistent disk to an existing compute instance.
